Can CBD Get Me High?
We get asked the question “Will CBD get me high? The answer is always no when Hempvada CBD products are in question. CBD does not get you high for a very simple but misunderstood reason. Though CBD is known to have many therapeutic effects, it is, in fact, a 100% non-psychoactive cannabinoid. CBD cannot get you “high” and doesn’t influence your brain, unlike its close relative THC. Cannabis is a very complex plant and has been found to have over 100 other cannabinoids in addition to THC and CBD, most of these, like our beloved CBD, is not psychoactive as well.
Why Doesn’t CBD Get Me High?
Typically after we tell people that “no, CBD won’t get you high and here’s why..”, they ask us why not it’s from cannabis right? Yes, it is but cannabis doesn’t get you high by default. The cannabis we are used to today has been grown and trained to produce very unnatural levels of THC and THCA in addition to other cannabinoid compounds. The original hemp plants and first marijuana plants are grown for “the high” actually contained very little amounts of THC. Typically CBD products contain no THC or very trace amounts, and these trace amounts are far from enough to get an individual high.
CBD vs THC
CBD and THC are different in the way that they one is psychoactive while the other isn’t. It’s these and a few other differences between these two compounds that determine how and where they are used. Let’s take a closer look at some key differences between CBD and THC.
1. Chemical Makeup: The chemical structure of CBD and THC are quite similar as they possess the same molecular structure of 30 hydrogen atoms, 21 carbon atoms, and 2 oxygen atoms.
2. Legal Status: While THC is medicinally and recreationally legal in many areas, it isn’t legal everywhere. CBD, however, enjoys a legal status in every state and most countries in the world. You can buy cbd oil here.
3. Non-Psychoactive: CBD binds very poorly to Cannabinoid 1 (CB1) receptors and even fail to bond entirely in some cases. With that being said, it fails to create the euphoric feeling in the body of the consumer. Unlike CBD, THC binds quickly and easily with the CB receptors to produce a euphoric sensation in its users.
